Lashunaqa Cooper Killed in Alleged Rocky Mount, North Carolina Drunk Driving Accident

Authorities from the North Carolina State Police have released the identity of a 21-year-old woman killed in a collision in Rocky Mount, NC on Monday, March 11th, 2013. Accident investigators handling the evaluation believe Lashunaqa Cooper was killed when the vehicle she operated was collided with by a vehicle that had crossed into the lanes of oncoming traffic for reasons currently under investigation as they navigated Highway 301.

The report does not clarify if Lashunaqa Cooper was killed instantly in the collision, or if she was possibly transported by emergency response personnel to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to the injuries inflicted on her in the accident a short time after her arrival. The driver of the offending vehicle has since been identified as Stacey Deans, who currently faces drunk driving related charges stemming from the accident.
