Police charged with handling the investigation from the Georgia State Highway Patrol have released a statement to the public that has identified the 25-year-old woman that was injured in a head-on collision in Houston County, GA on Saturday, May 4th, 2013. Police working in tandem with local accident investigation teams believe Samantha Scroggins was hurt when the vehicle she operated was struck head-on by a vehicle that was travelling against the flow of traffic for reasons currently under investigation.

According to the statement released by authorities, Samantha Scroggins sustained unspecified injuries in the accident and was consequently transported by emergency response personnel to nearby Medical Center of Central Georgia where hospital staff last listed her in fair condition. Police have stated that they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but have not yet released the results from more conclusive testing. Officials from local and state agencies are said to be investigating accident.
